The Apple Chai Gin & Tonic is a fall-inspired twist on the classic G&T, incorporating the warm and spicy flavors of apple chai syrup. This cocktail, created by Canyon Shayer of Philadelphia Distilling, is perfect for those who want to enjoy the refreshing qualities of a Gin & Tonic with an autumnal twist. Here’s how to make this unique and flavorful drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Dry Gin or any American dry gin
  • 3/4 oz Apple Chai Syrup*
  • Tonic Water to top
  • Star Anise Pod Garnish

Apple Chai Syrup

  • 1 cup Apple Cider
  • 2 tbsp Chai Tea
  • 1 cup Sugar

Instructions

Combine the Ingredients:

  • Fill a Collins glass with ice. Add 1 1/2 oz of Bluecoat American dry gin and 3/4 oz of apple chai syrup to the glass. The apple chai syrup adds a nuanced sweetness and warm spices to the drink.

Top with Tonic Water:

  • Top the mixture with tonic water. A drier tonic like Q tonic or Fever Tree is recommended to balance the sweetness of the syrup.

Stir Gently:

  • Stir the mixture gently to combine all the ingredients and ensure a well-balanced flavor profile.

Garnish:

  • Garnish with a star anise pod. This adds an aromatic touch that complements the chai spices in the syrup.

Serve:

  • Serve immediately and enjoy your Apple Chai Gin & Tonic.

How to Make Apple Chai Syrup

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup Apple Cider
    • 2 tbsp Loose Chai Tea
    • 1 cup Demerara Sugar

    Instructions:

    • Simmer Apple Cider and Chai Tea:
    • In a small saucepan, simmer 1 cup of apple cider with 2 tablespoons of loose chai tea for 3 minutes. This infuses the cider with the warm, spicy flavors of the chai.

    Strain and Add Sugar:

    • Remove the mixture from heat and strain out the tea. Stir in 1 cup of demerara sugar until it is fully dissolved. This creates a rich, sweet syrup with deep apple and chai flavors.

    Cool and Store:

    • Let the syrup cool before using. Store any leftover syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
